Treatment: Cerussite is not typically treated in the traditional gem sense. Due to its fragility, it is almost never heated, irradiated, or filled. Specimens are sometimes coated with a colorless stabilizer (like plastic or resin) to prevent the crystal surfaces from dulling or reacting with moisture, but this is for preservation, not enhancement.
Body (Clarity/Transparency): Cerussite can be transparent to translucent. The finest gemmy crystals are highly transparent. It lacks cleavage but has a very brittle tenacity, fracturing easily. Inclusions are common but not usually desired, as they detract from the gem’s legendary luster and clarity.
